Quick video of my 1932 Taylor Vacuum engine running. These had a 2 step piston. In other words, the piston had two different diameters and was shaped like a top hat. The smaller diameter was inside the combustion chamber and made the engine turn. The larger diameter rode inside a separate bore and worked a set of check valves to form a vacuum pump. The vacuum pump would be hooked up to a dairy milking machine. So the engine could be used to run a milking machine, or a pulley could be attached to the crankshaft and used as a conventional engine.

  • nice sound to that engine

  • It's not really as deep as it sounds. It was in a small concrete room at the time and you hear some artificial echo. Still, I want to put a "barker" on the exhaust to give it an even more distinct sound. Thanks for the comments.
