Try k-5 haha

@MK4vDubbin biased test? The canon is the better 'camera' no doubt. K5 has come a long way from the k7 but they are still lagging behind. But not to worry because pentax's USP is looks and portability, you don't buy a pentax for performance, you but it for lenses- k5 with a 31ltd and a 77ltd makes a wonderful pocket size kit which looks a lot better (and is nicer to use) than a canon 550d. Think of pentax like a leica rangefinder (or indeed the fuji x100), AF doesn't matter to a pentax user!

@albertsiegel I do shoot a 1d and I would be dubious to use it in the rain. Never have I seen a video from canon officially showing the weather sealing of their cameras. Pentax on the other hand will happily pour litres of water on their camera's for anyone who's got a flip camera and a youtube account. I don't think canon are confident in their weather sealing, even nikon have shown some videos testing the sealing

Actually, the 7D is not weather sealed. It has enhanced environmental sealing against dust and moisture. Canon makes no claim the 7D can handle rain where they do with the 1 series. I would never use any Canon camera less than a 1 series in wet conditions without protection. Same goes for half the L series lenses which are also not sealed. Don't take my word for it, contact Canon or look up one of their pro sales guides which state the same. I learned this the hard way.

@MK4vDubbin and hey maybe with all of these factors in check the Canon still comes out on top, but at least make the test fair. Videos like this are harmful to newbies to photography who will watch this and believe your biased test.

Why are you not using the same lenses? Focus speed is highly effected by the lens you're using. The same camera can focus slow as balls and then in a split second with a lens change. Further, the cameras aren't really comparable, or meant to be competitors with each other. If you're going to use an up to date Canon model you might at well use an up to date Pentax (K7 is starting to become old news). You should also be doing this test with a tripod (and who knows what you're even focusing on).

7D >>>>> K7
Now lets try the same test in the dark..... but lets add in a little rain..... zzzzzzTT.... Oh that was the Canon shorting out.

I disagree. k-7 is Pentax top of the line APS-C, 7D is Canon top of the line APS-C. DA* lens is Pentax pro-line lens, 70-200 is Canon pro-line lens.
Pentax is less expensive, but Pentax is always less expensive. That is one of the ways they compete. An excellent cost/benefit ratio. Still, most major review sites consider these cameras to be competitors, and test them against each other.
