  • I didn't see bland, so much as a certain character interpretation. She is singing the part of the older character, the wife, and perhaps her take on the character is that she is tired of her life and the things she knows her husband does. She still loves him, but she's giving up hope. I felt more sad than bored. A great performance by both, I thought.

  • I don't believe Sutton as Svetlana. I can see what she's feeling in these songs, she's certainly acting on the musci but I wouldn't cast her as a proud Russian. Just don't see it.

  • it is a rehearsal for god sakes.....it is not the actual performance

  • @archieanders I don't see a Tony sitting on your shelf!

  • Sorry, but Sutton, with the ham acting skills, ugly voice, and so-so dancing abilities, is the most overrated actress in the world.

  • Umm, you critics did see the word rehearsal in the title ?

  • Is there anywhere to find THIS version of Chess? The Idina version is everywhere. I want THIS one. Help?!

  • @ieatglue44 She doesn't need a break. She performed the song fine, I just don't see her as Svetlana.

  • @msbecky630 Svetlana may be proud, but she's also a hurt woman.

  • Why are people dissing Idina in THIS video? I dont see Idina up on that stage...I see the superb Julia.

Idina IMO did great in the Chess concert and Julia did great in this concert. They both had vastly different takes on the role, Idina played Florence a bit more vulnerable while Julia played her with a stronger fist.

  • @CHRISNOON3

Indeed, Idina Menzel was impossible. She does not sing there, she just yells. Not to mention the bad diction. I personally like the one did by Carmen Cusak with this song. Unfortunately , that version is badly recorded and never been well known.
