Kokoda was a savage military campaign fought without mercy between foes who seriously underestimated each other a desperate campaign to keep Papua New Guinea from falling to the Japanese during the darkest days of World War II. Based on the bestselling book Kokoda by Paul Ham and filmed in Australia, Japan and along the Kokoda Track, this documentary series is a raw and intimate story of men under unimaginable pressure. And its also a detailed investigation of how the confusion of war is found not only at the frontline but also in the homes and corridors of power of those on both sides of the conflict.

  • endurance, courage, ingenuity, good humour, larrikinism, and mate ship, these men had it all, it makes me proud that these Anzacs, fought and stopped the Japanese in one of the toughest theatres of the war.
