This robot was a bachelor thesis project at Chalmers, Sweden.

A web camera is mounted above the table surface. A picture is analyzed in MATLAB to determine where the next, topmost paper is to be picked. The arm then performs a pickup and drops it in the box...

The microprocessor that drives the robot is an Arduino.

  • We used the serial port functions in matlab to send ascii commands and receive data from the arduino.

  • With the camera we used then - no. However, it would maybe work with a better camera. There also has to be sufficient shadows from the edges of the papers so that the edge detection finds them, so maybe the paper sheets would have to be pretty thick.

  • nice

  • how do you interface MATLAB with arduino?

  • Intressant! Visste inte att man kunde anvanda MatLab pa detta vis. Ar det teknisk design du studerar/studerade vid Chalmers?

Sjalv pluggar ja industriell design i Eindhoven - Holland o vi gor liknande tuffa grejjer : )

  • what if you have nothing but white paper that needs stacking? will the program recognize the individual sheets?
