My Other Half - Chapter 1

(Nvbrox16 here with the first chapter! Hope you like. The boys do have purity rings. And Demi and the boys haven't done Camp Rock but like they look like they do now and everything, ya know? The first chapters are always kind of... boring but we have to start somewhere, right?)

Demi's POV

"Joe JONAS?! Are you kidding me?!" I screeched at my mother.
"Demi, honey, just think of the press," my mom says, trying to calm me down.
"The press, the press?! Is that all you think about?" I ask her.
"Don't you want to be a star? You need good press for people to know about you," my mom, Diana, explains.
"Yes, I want to people to know about me but not by hanging on some jerk's arm!" I said.
"Just give Joseph a chance," my mom pleaded. I thought about it for a moment.
"Fine," I mumbled.
"Wonderful, he and his parents are coming to dinner tonight," my mom quickly stated. I groaned and went up to my room.
Joe Jonas. He is an arrogant jerk who only cares about himself and is single of course. His older brother Kevin is probably the nicest one of the trio. Kevin is already married to a great girl Danielle. I don't get the chance to talk to them that often but I try to. Joe's younger brother Nick is in a relationship with Selena Gomez, my ex-best friend. I'm not really sure what happened. We drifted a bit and Selena started hanging out with Taylor Swift and I started hanging out with Miley Cyrus and Miley and Selena are major enemies. And then there were rumors that I said some things and that Selena said some things and we just stopped talking. Therefore, I don't really talk to Nick.
This whole ordeal with Joe, however, is one big mess. The Jonas Brothers, as Joe and his brothers are called, and I are rising stars. To get that extra push, they decided that all three of the Jonas Brothers should be taken and since I apparently need to become more famous, my mom and Joe's parents made up the plan to have Joe and I date and have a relationship. A fake one.

"Demi!" I heard my mom call. "They're here!" I groaned for probably the hundredth time that day and shuffled down the hall and downstairs. I went into the front hall. "Demi, you remember Denise and Paul, right?" my mom says, gesturing to Joe's parents. I nod.
"It's nice to see you again," I say, putting on a fake smile.
"You as well," Denise replies.
"And you know Joe," my mom says. I nod again and glance up at Joe. My breath catches in my throat. Was he that gorgeous looking the last time I saw him?
"H-hi," I stutter. He smiles a dazzling smile back, though I saw through it. It was a forced smile. It made me remember who he really is and I frowned.
"Well, how about we eat?" my mom asks, leading everyone into the kitchen.

During dinner, Joe's parents and my mom talked about all the technical stuff while we just listened and ate. We both agreed with whatever they said, wanting this to be over with. They decided that our first public appearance together would be tomorrow but it doesn't need to be anything intimate. Joe's mom said that we should at least act like we're trying to hide it at first. And thank God, because then I don't have to touch him...yet.

"I can't believe we have to do this," Joe mumbled to no one in particular but only I could hear. We've been sitting on the couch in an awkward silence for about 5 minutes while our parents chatted away in the kitchen. The tv was on but I didn't know what show it was, and I didn't care. I was too busy thinking about this mess I'm getting myself into.
