My 2011 Chevy Cruze 1LT, with the 1.4L Turbo (138HP @ 4900RPM, 148lb/ft @ 1850RPM.

Not the fastest in straight line acceleration, but it has a lot of torque around town.

  • don't know why GM used such a small turbo in this. Would have been nice if it was a 2.0 turbo with more torque and hp. This 1.4 has less hp than the 1.8 yeah it's got more torque but it still looks slow.... Gm fail.

  • @leadnsteel The point of this engine is to use a smaller engine that feels like a bigger one. And it accomplishes that. It isn't supposed to be fast, why is it so hard for people to understand that? Using the 2.0T would make zero sense, as this is supposed to be a fuel efficient car, not a sports car.

  • Regardless of 9-12 seconds, 0-60 in anything more than 6 seconds is slow. This is why no-one who really likes performance wants an electric car or a hybrid. They will have to pry my cold dead hands from the steering wheel of my tuned 2011 Challenger SRT8 before I drive an electric POS!

  • @kangaldogs0331 not everyone wants, needs, or cares about speed. You might get to 60 in <5 seconds, but I can get 40mpg on long highway trips.

  • Smh. It shifts into 2nd gear at 20 MPH and that was definitely over 11 seconds. We need to bring back the V6! Chevy Beretta, Cavalier, Corsica, Lumina, etc. Get some serious power there.

  • @14575019 3.1 MPFIs had less HP then this 1.4t, but the 3100 had more. However, the 4 speed autos help back any power the v6s had to the point that they ran roughly 9-12 seconds to 60.

  • slow

  • people are arguing about how fast a cruze is......its 100% designed for fuel economy 40+mpgs. if they wanted it to be fast they would have a "SS" option or something to that effect. IMO this car is way better than a prius or volt.

  • @leadnsteel No. Both engines put out 138 HP but the 1.4 puts out more torque, 148 lb-ft to be exact, whereas the 1.8 puts out 123 lb-ft of torque.

  • @kangaldogs0331 actually electric cars can be very fast. No one wants them because of the cost of them. Batteries make them expensive. Electric motors make 100% of their power from 0 rpm all the way up.

  • I love the little grumble it gives when you touch the gas. My uncle's gets about 40, 45 mpg if he really tries. Great little car.

  • @rudolphna54 The Cavaliers are almost as small as the Cruze. I could believe it. I saw it do 0-60 in 13 seconds with the 2.2. Same with the Lumina's Gen II V6. The Beretta can do 7.6 with the Gen II or III and the Corsica can do 6.5. The Chevrolet Impala still has the V6. And you can get a V8. And Dodge still does V6 and V8s in cars. The Dodge Intrepid is a very good car.

  • @rudolphna54 Yeah, the Cavalier with the I4 sucked. A half gallon of eggnog in my refrigerator claimed to be 1.89 Liters. That means the cylinders in the Chevrolet Cruze aren't even the size of your ear. The Corsica with the Gen III 3.1 V6 does 0-60 in 6.5 seconds.. beat 2 Ford Mustangs. 1 with a V8 which also had a head start.
