@spcutler Many thanks. I could see some sediment in the bottom of the jar. I was also using boiling water. On top of all that, I did not strain the solution to remove any sediment etc. Trial by error so now will give it another go. Good thing the copper sulphate powder is cheap. Thanks again. Will reply once I have a win with it all.

I have already made the mix and a seed crystal but the seed sometimes seems to "melt" in the jar with the mix. Have I done something wrong?

@sconesbi That probably means that you either did not let the solution cool enough before adding the seed, or that the solution was not saturated enough. Keep the mixture just below boiling and mix in crystals until you can't any more, and see crystals dropping to the bottom. Then, pour off the top liquid part into a different container and let it cool to room temperature. Then, you should be able to start the experiment.

can i use liquid copper sulfate?? And how will i use it?? Pls any1 answer asap!

@uRDArkFRieND30 I wouldn't trust liquid copper sulfate, as it may contain additives that will interfere with the process, and won't be at the correct concentration. You should start with pure copper sulfate crystals and distilled water for best results.

Danoz246 1 year ago
@Danoz246 I'll look into it--I didn't know that you could make crystals with borax. Thanks for the suggestion!
