Obamas empathy standard

I will seek an independent mind with a record of excellence and integrity, seek someone who understands justice and isnt about some abstract legal theory or footnote in a case book, it is also about how our laws affect the daily realities of peoples live whether they can make a living and care for their families whether they feel safe in their homes and welcome in their own nation, I view that quality of empathy of understanding and identifying what peoples hopes and struggles as an essential ingredient for arriving at just decisions and outcomes, I will seek someone who is dedicated to the rule of law who honors our constitutional traditions who respects the integrity of the judicial process and the appropriate limits of the judicial role, I will seek someone who shares my respect for constitutional values on which this nation was founded and brings a thoughtful understanding of how to apply them in our times,-President Barack Obama 5/1/09

Who has empathy with Aafia Siddiqui - she was sentenced in a strange trial in NY in Sep-2010 - should have taken a gun while being interrogated - noone in public could believe that - there is no hope for the US justice system - time of Gary Cooper and the good chaps is over - so sad
