Vagrant Story Boss: Earth Dragon

BLARGH!!! Who doesn't hate this boss? You spend a blasted half-hour randomly wandering through the damn forest, constantly being pestered by the forest critters, and then this bastard literally comes out of nowhere! "Follow the Snowflies." Talk about bloody useless advice! XD

Acid Breath... Yes, we've seen these distance-only multi-hit super attacks before, but this one is particularly dangerous! I wouldn't be surprised if it killed someone at full HP - it left my HP in the single digits in one playthrough. Damage amount can vary quite a bit with these multi-hit attacks, and if you haven't been so lucky with HP/STR boosts and enemy armor drops... ow. For this reason, it might be worthwhile casting Terra Guard until you get close to the boss. I can't believe this bastard actually managed to use Acid Breath twice - I didn't think his second turn could come around so quickly. Thank goodness for the Terra Ward defense ability, it saved my ass! XD

LUFT FUSION OR DIE!!! Yeah, I don't think you have much of a choice here. You're going to need an Air elemental weapon or you're gonna do crap damage. Plus, the Earth Dragon is immune to Degenerate, so you can't rely on that to increase damage output.

Like in the previous dragon fight, edged or piercing (with piercing being a bit stronger) attacks on the head is the most effective attack option. The tail is still vulnerable to edged attacks, but it now has -5 edged defense instead of the massive -25, and it has super high evasion so... BLAH. Speaking of evasion, this guy has plenty of it, so you're gonna need a Braveheart gem. I mean, 77% chance to hit at only 7 RISK and including a 20% boost... sheesh. Remember to stop your chains at 8 or the RISK spike is going to assure that you will never hit again. XD

Awwwww. Poor Grissom. He lost his buddies. C'mon, Crimson Blades don't cry! XD

lol I follow the snowflies and always get to this guy in five minutes tops, it'd only be about one or two minutes but all those damn regular enemies get in the way.

Wow, you stop at only 8 chains? Maybe I played this game wrong, on almost every boss I did huge long chains that took me to max RISK and kept going, and if I missed the timing before the boss died I was kinda screwed. Actually I think most of my damage output came from 0-damage attacks that I chained back up to double digits eventually.

lmao i remember when i first played this my attacks were barely doing any damage at all, all i did was heal, and time his attacks to send his damage back when he would bite me or use the tail whip
