HOORAY!!

The lockout is over and we can all start scouring the training camp reports for the next big fantasy football sleeper this year. This is the first edition of the weekly Fantasy Football show, Petty's Predictions. I'm Henry Petty your host, and this week we will be discussing Free Agency, Training camp, and how these moves are affecting YOUR (emphasis) Fantasy Football Draft.
We're going to jump right into it with some recent news and developing stories that may affect the stock of some key fantasy players.
I'm sure some of you have been monitoring the Plaxico Burress situation and were excited to hear of his signing. I would keep my expectations in the moderate range with his recent prison release and age being a factor. I think the bigger story here is that Jerricho Cotchery will be relinquishing his position in the slot for the Jets. Jerricho Cotchery should not be drafted in any round, and I would leave Burress for a late round pickup.
The most important development I have seen over the weekend is the movement of Vonta Leach. Leach is the best Fullback in the National Football League and his migration should not be taken lightly. I wasn't the biggest fan of Arian Foster to begin this year, and now he has fallen even farther in my stock report. He's still a first round pick, but there are too many red flags for me to take him in the top 3. The good news of this signing is that Ray Rice has become a candidate for the top fantasy running back. With the Ravens signing Leach and Willis McGahee's departure, I now have Rice as a top 3 draft value. McClain may still vulture a touchdown or two, but Rice is looking more and more like a sure fire 1,300 yards and 13 touchdowns.
While I wouldn't draft McNabb in my fantasy draft, his presence in Minnesota does resolve some of my concerns for two other players in Minnesota. Adrian Peterson has been a very reliable top 5 pick for a few years now and I believe that will continue this year. With a veteran QB handling the snaps, there will be fewer growing pains for Adrian Peterson's body and statics to suffer through. The opposing defenses will not be able to stack the line against Peterson as they would have with Ponder. McNabb doesn't bring much to Minnesota, but he does keep defenses honest. I believe Percy Harvin's situation has also improved dramatically with the signing of Donovan McNabb and the departure of Sidney Rice. Even though I believe McNabb is completely overrated and outdated, someone is going to catch his passes. Harvin is the number one target as of now.
Much like Peterson in Minnesota, Chris Johnson is going to benefit from an established passing threat in Tennessee. Hasselbeck will keep defenses honest so Chris Johnson will remain a top three back in my rankings. Hasselbeck is on the down slope of his career and won't improve any wide receiver statistics much than having Kerry Collins would. Kenny Britt, if he can stay out of prison, should be a good wide receiver 3 or 4 pickup in your draft.
Kevin Kolb has been traded to Arizona much like we all expected. While I don't recommend Kolb as anything but a late rounder in your draft, I will say this does improve Larry Fitzgerald's stock. Kolb is miles ahead of John Skelton, Derek Anderson, and Max Hall. I wouldn't be afraid to take Fitzgerald with a middle to late second round pick.

Next I'll just give you some quick one line thoughts to take into consideration.

Mike Tolbert may be too effective for Ryan Mathews to be anything but a bye-week filler.
Jordy Nelson is no longer a sleeper with James Jones returning to the Packers this year.
With the Nnamdi signing, Nicks and Bryant have taken a fantasy hit. They should have two games a year with zero catches. Both are a mid fourth round pick.
Calvin Johnson is my favorite to earn the most fantasy football points in standard leagues for any wide receiver. A healthy Stafford backs up my argument. Feel free to take him high in the second round.
Roy Williams may become the top notch target that Jay Cutler needs in Chicago. Mike Martz is familiar with Williams. I'd take him as a sleeper if you can land him in the 8th or 9th round.
Recent reports have improved my opinion of Vincent Jackson. He should join the top wideouts this year and be worthy of a 2nd or 3rd round pick. To be safe, don't take him unless you can get him in the 4th round.
Philip Rivers was a monster last year, I have a feeling his statistics will take a slight hit with the Chargers improving a run game and not playing from behind all season. Norv likes to balance his attack and control the clock when he's afforded the luxury.
Normally Peyton Manning is a sure-fire 4,000 yards and 25TDs, but I wouldn't take the risk with his neck injury. We have seen Manning before come out with quite a bit of rust after an offseason surgery.
