  • Hi, I got a surrey flange fitted when we got a pump installed. The pump lasted about 6-8 weeks then totally failed. Looking at this vid the s flange that is fitted, my one is the other way round. Now when pump is turned on the flow of water is just the same as if the pump wasnt on also no hot water flows through it. When turned off the hot water seems to flow throught. Another thing is the cold water tap in the downstairs toilet seem to be luke warm which never happened before. any ideas mate

  • @fannywamer Hi there. Does the shower pump feed to a mixer shower? Thermostatic or not the fact that you have hot water coming out of a cold tap elsewhere points to that. To get round that put two check valves on the outlets of the shower pump. You might also have to change the shower.

When it comes to the shower pump. Turn the water off to the pump, remove the supply pipes and put them over a bucket and turn the water back on. If H and C comes out then you will likely need a new pump.

  • @plumberparts Hey PP. yea the pump feeds to a mixer shower which was installed last year new. Now the snag is the whole bathroom was tiled after the shower was installed.

From what i can see the pump is in the hot press and connected to the main hot and cold for the whole house (not what was intended), it was just the bathrooms that was suppose to get the pressure water. but a friend installed it for me and i've no come back now :(

should the s flange be changed like in the vid

  • @fannywamer Yes Mate put it in like in the video. Your shower pump will fail if it has a mains water feed to it. They can only pump on open vented systems. Good luck! PP

  • Essex flange is better, especially techflange Essex. Purely dedicated feed.

  • @robertgg1980 True, but this is easier for your home DIYer to install. I hope you subscribe to my videos. I'm uploading a vid on kitchen tap in a bit. Regards PP
