For your enjoyment from my collection this is a tribute to Charles Lindbergh's May 1927 historic solo flight across the Atlantic in his plane, Spirit Of St Louis. Featured in the video is a period New York Times clip covering the flight along with one of my early Victor recordings of President Coolidge welcoming Lindbergh home after his solo flight and finally, an unusual 1927 Cameo recording by LeRoy Montesanto with a recitation and song in tribute to Lindbergh. The phonograph is my trusty (and handy for playing!) early Victor model D. Thanks for stopping in for a visit and I hope you enjoy the video!

  • I'm glad this was legit, not that bit of fakery perpetrated by some record company in the '50s. I rarely say a bad word about Edward R. Murrow, but he never should have lent his name to that, much less his awesome voice. There was a song by Irving Kaufman about Lindbergh, part of which went "Lindy, our hats are off to you." If you've got it and it isn't posted here, please do so. ditto any other Kaufman somebody else didn't post. forever more irving Kaufman.

  • @musicmandon1 Thanks for the comments. I have hundreds of early Irving Kaufman records. I will try to find something interesting by him to post.

  • This is also very interesting for non American viewers!

    Thanks for posting.

  • @legOldtimer Thanks for the nice comments! You're most welcome and please do stop in again soon.

  • Thanks for posting this! I have the Victor recording of Lindbergh addressing at Washington D.C., but never knew about this recording.

By the way, I have requested if you can upload some operatic stuff sometime - hope you can post it some day. (The sooner, the better)

  • @transformingArt Thanks for your comments! Funny you should ask about my posting some operatic videos as just this morning I was holding some very early operatic recordings deciding whether I should post them. Now that I have your encouragement I will plan on posting a few of the more unusual ones that may be of interest.
