Me singing the amazing "Music of the night" from Phantom of the Opera.

Renee Maurice is well on her way to becoming an accomplished artist.
At just 18 years of age, this talented singer/songwriter has written over 160 songs, written 4 scripts for film and a musical for stage.

In 2006, her song, "For the love of Saula", which explains hers and many others' interest in the relationship between American Idol judge Simon Cowell, and past American Idol change Paula Abdul, reached #1 on the Australian MP3 charts, and held its position for 10 weeks.

In 2007, Renee co-wrote and released the song Queen of Hearts with EMI, as part of the charitable organization, StarJam. The song was written in commemoration of Princess Diana on the 10th anniversary of her death.

The same year, she also wrote the title song and performed in the Theatre South production of Warchild, the original stage show by Gavin Richards, depicting the current day atrocities of children becoming soldiers. The show and song received high acclaim, globally.

Currently, Renee spends her time writing songs and performing. Renee has also written a musical called Seacliff: Demise of Ward 5, which surrounds the tragic events of the fire in 1942 at Seacliff Asylum, near Dunedin, which claimed the lives of 37 women. Renee hopes to see it produced in the near future and is looking into several avenues that may see that happen.

As well as focusing on her own career, Renee continues to lend her talents and support to the Charitable organization Starjam, with whom, she has performed on numerous occasions, including the recent Halberg Performance in January. Renee will be performing with Starjam again in the near future and is now working on her 3rd Album.

  • ...sound pretty...once again not a bad thing but it's just a difference to observe. Very good pitch throughout, nice a flat...but again I really really really wanted to hear it with "soar" its really pretty. Good musicality and style, nice technique...Nice job for a girl singing this song...

  • @TheMusicalman1234 Thank you for your comments, I don't like to sing songs that I've listened to the original versions of more than a couple of times, so the way I sung this was just how I remembered it :-)

  • this is more beutiful that the original one.... i mean it... i can also play music of the night on my electronic keyboard! i love the song alot!

  • @winxclub2vasu Oh wow, thank you very much, I agree it is a great song :-)

  • Just heard this, cant believe someone said out of tune and pitch. Numpty!!! Different does not mean wrong. Great to hear someone interpret a song in their own style, instead of karaoke copy. Your version is beautiful and ethereal and yoiur voice suits it beautifully. Enya meets Webber. Marvelous !!!!!

  • Renee, you are awesome. I love this version - goosebumps !

  • you tampered with the melody...not necessarily a bad thing, but when you do that you have to establish the original melody, then you can play with it...its just a rule...Obviously range is not the problem, which sort of disappointed me in the beginning I wanted to hear those higher notes so softly...i think this song is more effective when sung by a man...but more pretty when sung by a woman...when a guy does it he has to put in that added feeling of mystery, where as a woman just needs to...

  • amazing song.. amazing interpretation =))

  • @Naturuer Thank you very much :-)

  • Lovely
