Thank you for sharing, checkout how I feel
about an addiction that I've had for over
fifty years. I've tried hypnotism nicorette gum and patches,
many, many times before,
and I've lost count of the times I've thrown
away lighters, cigarettes and matches,
in an effort to quit,
but here I am fifty years later, still smoking
a pack a day or more.

You are going way to far to try and make a point on the basis of personal tolerance, something that when taken to such an extreme position results in nothing more than a perverted and selfish concept of morality.
We're talking about something that is empirical and causal in nature. When one smokes, it is far more likely that they smell like the tobacco that they consume. Such a conclusion that smokers smell bad is akin to statement such as "People who paint tend to get paint on themselves."

PEOPLE making a choice to quit isn't the hard part. its ACTUALLY quitting that is. i find it HUMOROUS that non-smokers simply say JUST QUIT! but no, unless you know the strong effect of nicotine has. then the numbers n the medical reasons aren't ENOUGH TO GET SMOKERS OFF!

I would rather have my child be an open-minded smoker than a close-minded non-smoker who thinks that smokers are all, as you have stated, "smelly," or , "bad-breathed."
What a ridiculous thing to say!

Thanks. This is great. I hope young people see this before they get the habit. I have a video on YouTube called "Make a new Heart" about breaking addictions, at, nhkox channel.

I believe that this video needs to present more facts, and should be displayed on a more child-oriented website (As the cartoon-like themes and almost childish explanations seem a bit ages 8-10 oriented), instead of youtube.

Ummm.... I know that mainstream society says that children begin smoking because of peer pressure....
Now while I am only 16 and have never smoked before, I find that most of my friends who smoke do not do it because of peer pressure, but as a release of anxiety and depression in todays youth. I believe that smoking is more an issue of psychological or emotional comfort rather than a case of low self-confidence....
I think it is also wrong to insult smokers, to make children stay away from it. I would rather have my child be an open-minded smoker than a close-minded non-smoker who thinks that smokers are all, as you have stated, "smelly," or , "bad-breathed."

Thanks for the input, Roghen. You make some good points, though I would argue that "peer pressure" extends into a larger notion of the term than simple "I see my friends smoking so I will too." think of the larger images of smoking that are pervasive in our culture and that make it attractive. Anyway, thanks for the balanced critique. - Dan from Ignite!
