An instalment of Slim's "Strawberry Roan" cowboy trilogy (probably part one). Links to the other songs are below.
In "I'll Hang up My Chaps and Saddle", many a cowboy had boarded, but none yet had rode, the Roan. Here, Wilf fails in his attempt to stay aboard, and so hangs up his spurs and saddle (he never mentions chaps).
