The first in a series of skill exhibitions. I have not included any spoiler skills or Hiougis, et all since they will be getting a seperate video later.

Sema's skills involve the water element, but he does have some secret skills that classic Tales characters can teach him (I've fixed the old Cless bug, btw). They are: Demon Fist, Rending Thrust, Lightning Tiger Blade, Sonic Blast and Lightning Blade.

I included Barbatos and two Forest Hawks so that I could show you the damage difference that Sema's anti-air moves have against grounded and flying foes.

Fissure Claw is one I'm not too happy with. I shall remake that one at a later date.

Well... Enjoy, you guys! ^^!

  • ... It's like someone took Final Fantasy and combined it with a Tales game. I'm not sure if that epic fail-ifying Tales, or awesome-ifying FF.

(No, shut up. I know what you're going to say, and it's something among the lines of "WAAAAH FF IS AWSUM FUK U WAAAAH.")

  • @DrolKeegEht I won't get mad. Final Fantasy hasn't done it for me in ages.

In regards to the battle system, blame RM2k3. It doesn't let you make a Tales-style battle system by default, and when I was making Ocean, I didn't understand how to do a Tales one. I still don't. At All. It's too event-y and clusterfucky. >_>

Still, I finished this a year ago, so I've moved onto (what I hope are) better things since. With some luck, maybe I'll learn for future projects.

Ah, yes. The worst thing in making a game; a clusterfucky game making program. Well, good luck with whatever it is you move on to. Hopefully you can get a non-shitty program.

  • @DrolKeegEht I wouldn't say RM2k3 was a *bad* program, just that it was sort of impossible for a kid who had zero experience with game making to make something technologically outstanding. I suppose it was story and characters that saved my sorry ass when I was starting out, lol.

Still, what I got out of Ocean was experience, and now that I have that, I'm having a much easier time developing my next game (the fact that RMVX is a better program too helps XD).

  • I've heard this song somewhere..

  • It's from Breath of Fire III. I love the music from that game. ^^

  • The animation isn't bad for a RM2k3 game. Looks like a lot of work was put into it.

I've done some basic RM2k3 event battle systems before, you don't want to try to make a Tales of system with it. You'll wind up spending hours on it to wind up with a giant glitch. Trust me.

For more recent RPG Makers, though, it should be pretty doable, but would take a lot of work, especially for animating skills/hit detection.

  • Oh YEAH! I remember now! With Ryu and rei and everyone else..great game.

  • :3 Yay :3

  • Yeah, it's a shame that they can't move. Oh well, at least their Mystic Artes will be animated.

And, yes, there will be a cameo battle. I'll be uploading them in due time.
