Hulu on AppleTV 2

A HowTo showing how to watch Hulu videos on a Jailbroken AppleTV 2 using PlayOn and XBMC.

Quick instructions:
1: Jailbreak AppleTV 2 (using Seas0nPass [Mac] or PwnageTool [PC])
2: Install PlayOn on PC
3: Install XBMC on AppleTV 2
4: Add PlayOn as video source
5: Enjoy!

UPDATE:
The latest versions of Seas0nPass (Mac -- http://support.firecore.com/entries/387605 ) and GreenPois0n (PC -- http://greenpois0n.com/ ) allow for untethered jailbreaks of AppleTVs running iOS 4.2.1 (currently the latest firmware). Therefore, you do not need to have a computer and USB cable handy every time your power goes out or you unplug your ATV2. In short, this process is much easier now.

@SupaThunderCat No, sorry. The PlayOn application only lets you take advantage of services you already have subscriptions to. So you'll need to have a Netflix account to use the Netflix functionality.

@ync1 I'm logged into a Windows 7 machine that I have running on my network at home using Remote Desktop. So I'm not actually running Windows on my Mac, I'm just connecting to a Windows machine remotely. It makes things easier since my recording software is loaded on my Mac.

Also keep in mind all you need is a MAC and a Virtual Machine solution such as Parallels and you can do the same as having a MAC and seperate PC.

@rarmogan Good point. Another option, if you want to go the "free" route, would be VirtualBox. VirtualBox is free (plus the cost of a Windows license) and will work in a similar manner.

I hadn't thought of that because I use a MacBook which isn't always running and the PlayOn box must be running to use this.

Furthermore, as an update, Seas0nPass now has an untethered jailbreak. So all that stuff about needing to have a Mac to boot is no longer true. :-)

FireCore has an untethered jailbreak.. Install xbmc and add the blue copy repository which has the Hulu addn,l forget playon,.. It's bullshit

You don't need playon for hulu.. Use the blue cop addon for xbmc

@rarmogan Virtualbox is free as beer and it is a great tool. Not as fancy as some but hell it works just as good as the other fully virtulized counterparts. Even works better that VMWARE with it its browser Server tool.
