Here's the other side to "I'm Gonna Move Upstairs."

The picture, as stated in the presentation, is of Clara & Gertrude Ward at the funeral service of Ruth Davis.

  • That funeral service was that of Ruth davis of the Davis sisters.

  • @mrtheoneandonly83: Yes, it is

  • thank you for this. i really am enjoying these songs. did clara write the day is past and gone? i heard aretha sang it at her funeral. i know ree must have been crushed. i love arethas version, when she is 14 years old. so much power obviously she was displaying her influence by clara and sam cooke.

  • No, Clara didn't write "The Day Is Past And Gone," but it was one of her favorite hymns.

  • Does anybody know what she is saying after Jerusalem on high?

  • Every soul should lay up treasures

In the bank up in the sky

    Located near the golden center

    Of Jerusalem on high

God, the father, is the founder

    Christ, the Son, the president

    Cashier is the Holy Spirit

    Who on Pentecost, was sent.

Is this what you were referring to?

  • I am just discovering this Jewell of gospel music recently. I am loving each selection I download. This was before my time, but I still enjoy every note.

Any suggestions out there on websites or other sources where I can learn more about the Ward Singers? Any input would be appreciated.

I will be adding their music to my library of songs, but I would like to know a little history when I get more time to research this rich legacy that I just learned about recently. Wikeped dont count
