  • They are called gushers and you bottle a beer that was still fermenting and the priming sugar caused it all to go ape shit

  • and as for what Cragtube said more then likly this is not an infection just over-priming :) had this happen once with my brews and i still drank them

  • @mageac - over-priming would cause that as well, but I'd bet that their fermentation was incomplete before they bottled. Far more common than infection.

    Many new homebrewers use the calendar to tell when its time to bottle, you know, "1 week in primary, 2 weeks in secondary, 3 weeks in the bottle, drink" Which nworks well enough for your typical low alcohol medium brown ale, but the smart was to judge is by testing your gravity.

    Clear glass bottles is a no-no too...

  • @CraigTube wouldn't that just be over priming?
