Occupy Snow!

I went down for a visit today and the winds were howling, snow and rain as the temp hovered around 32. Everyone was trying to put on a happy face but you could tell they were miserable. Every person was sopping wet. Even if they stayed in their tents all day, they were still wet because they had to come out every now and then for a bathroom break - a feature tents still don't have.

When I asked about the whereabouts of a bathroom I was told to go to McDonald's a couple of blocks down! Yes, almost everyone there uses the McDonald's bathrooms! McDonald's has one for men and one for women. So you're talking several hundred people sharing the same bathroom!

The winds were wreaking havocs on the tents. Remember, they're in a city park... where the ground is mostly concrete. So they can't drive stakes into the ground to secure the tents! They did their best but even while I was there I saw a couple of tents get totally blown down.

Also ran into a couple of people who were fighting pretty loudly inside their tents. Apparently the close quarters and bad weather were making tempers flare.

Thanks for this vid, very entertaining. Although they despise corporations, I see a lot of commercially made products they're using, what's up with that? And I believe the recently coined term "Flea Party" sums up their movement quite nicely.

If you removed everything from them that the capitalist system brought they'd all be dead right now because they would have frozen to death last night with no clothes, no tents and no sleeping bags. And they would have starved to death before that without all the excess wealth created by the capitalist system allowing fellow travelers and unions to supply them with all that "donated" food.
