On December 8th, Colorado Wants to Work occupied the office of Congressman Mike Coffman for a prayer vigil and conversation in the name of asking Coffman to support extending unemployment benefits which might expire this month. Unless Congress acts, millions of Americans face the prospect of going hungry and getting thrown out of their homes soon after the holidays. Politicians predictably will demand cuts to other progressive programs before authorizing more spending for unemployment insurance.
Extensions are temporary. We need to attack the laws that let business offshore our jobs as well as hide the profits.
