@jarrettautry Your profile says you're 20 AND you're a 6th dan... incredible
-
i'm a 6dan ITF he still did it wrong

He is supposed to be looking at the direction of his kicks as well as sine wave where he goes forth in motion. Stepping up and down is normal in patterns but he is bouncing around too much.
-
Don't underestimate him as black belt, he would have gone through a hell of a lot to pass his black belt grading from the exercise, the run, the display of patterns. He has no room for mistakes, once he passes the color belt stage he can't make a mistake even if he is a kid, his movement is slower than normal and he bounces too much. You should know that at each belt level comes responsibility, he should know that too especially at his level when he will be expected to teach the junior belts

@joetaicoon you're right he should have looked in the direction of his technique. this going up and down is called the sine wave, and it's rather a relaxing of the leg muscles so you go down. then comes the technique and you contract your leg muscles

pretty bad for a 1st degree, i'm 1st degree myself and he had so many mistakes.

I am wondering if Taekwon do is so different from karate. In the three styles I have been practising, we have put a high emphasis on not stepping up and down, but rather keep center of gravity moving in a straight horizontal line. This does not apply to taekwon do? He always moves up and down and up and...
nb. it seems that he very often does not look in the direction of his techniques. Certainly that can't be how it is supposed to be done?
The way this kid does his forms is not exactly the way it should be done. He looks like a kid, so give him a break. WTF students have no room to talk, every Olympics the WTF look like they are flailing their legs when a good ridge hand or simple strike to the head is appropriate. Oh I sorry, you all don't spar that way. And for your karate students, there is a big difference between TKD and karate, TKD students actually put power into their kicks and strikes.

The ITF do it slightly different to WTF and regular TKD students. For example we do look where we attack and we dont throw our arm out when kicking.
