Istanbul May Day

Filmed during a protest for workers' rights on 1 Mayıs. This all started on the same day back in 1977 when either police or soldiers shot and killed several demonstrators marching for solidarity among working people. I don't condone the killing of innocent people, but I'll say this for Turkey: if they don't like what you're saying, they'll kill you outright. In the U.S., they'll rot your brain until you don't give a damn what they do. (Note: I was trying to get a shot of the police helicopter that had been hovering right above me. That's the "eye in the sky" to which I was referring.)
