@zyxwut321 It's lonely at the top. Being the most competitive person in the room often comes off as a negative, but I'd rather surround myself with 'fighters' like him than 'opportunists' like the rest of us. Perhaps he is a jerk (IDK, I don't know him), but at least he doesn't shine a light on himself. I'll take MJ as a role model over a million others.

That's weak. MJ is a prick, always was a prick, always will be a prick. He's also the greatest player to ever play the game of basketball. He's kind of like the Ty Cobb of basketball. Everyone respects the hell out of his talent and game, everyone also fears and loathes him off the court. I bet if MJ was a poor Southern cracker at the turn of the 20th century like Cobb he would've also been just as racist. He has an ugly heart.

Thanks for uploading this! We are fans from New Zealand and we hardly get to watch these and seeing MJ and his speech was very moving and heart felt may he live on to inspire us all.

I think what many people don't understand is that 'basketball' is not the end-all-be-all to him.
He's actually VERY humble (if listen between the lines) in that he justifies all his success to countless OTHERS who unwittingly MOTIVATED him - an already DRIVEN personality.
He even starts of his implying there is no reason for him to have been so much taller than his brothers.
He implies that he believes himself 'blessed'. Is it not obvious that he was?
Do you think he's not aware of it?!? He is.

I don't get why the media were so hard on him after this speech. He's thanking everyone that lit a fire in him and pushed him to be the greatest. When he gave this speech, the media made it seem like he told them all to fuck off because he's the best there ever was. Yes, his confidence came out when he thanked many of them, but that's expected and it was way more humorous than hurtful.
