This is a Standard AA open works machine, made for the Standard Phonograph Company by Columbia. This machine has an odd sized spindle, it won't play your popular 78 rpm record unless you drill them out, I don't have any of the records that were made for this machine so I have drilled the hole on this record so I could play it. Enjoy, they really are a nice machine.

  • It doesn't sound bad at all for such an early machine.

Is the soundbox basically the same design as a Columbia AJ/AH etc?

  • Hi Shane, It does have a nice sound I rebuilt the sound reproducer. The record is a bit worn, I didn't want to drill my best records. I believe it does have the same sound reproducer as the AJ/AH it is also the same os my X2. I think the AA is a very nice machine, I have a soft spot for front mount and open works machines. Regards Marcel
