A translated discription of this game calls the creatures "demons" an says that they are from another dimesion. But you're right that they are parasites. Their basic form are the red blobs from the beginning. They attach themselfs to other lifeforms to control and mutate them into monsters.
Sayaka is kidnapped by them because she has some kind of psychic power that would help the demons take over the world a lot faster.
Maria and Ryo are some kind of superheroes. No real story is behind them.
