At Maker Faire people could drive my robots using an Xbox controller or by speaking commands to the robot. In this video I walk you through the drive by speech application to which we also add some additional functionality to allow an emergency stop and direct control via the Xbox controller's thumb sticks and triggers. All built with Microsoft Robotics Developer Studio V2008 which is free with the hobbyist licence available from Microsoft.com/robotics

  • For the iRobot Create my laptop is the controlling PC. This runs the application. The Xbox controller and its headset are wirelessly connected to this via the xbox accessory dongle.

The laptop is connected to the Create using Bluetooth.

So Xbox controller to Laptop application, Laptop application to Robot.

  • I have 2 questions. first, do u connect the xbox controller and headset to the computer to control the robot via bluetooth? and second, did you use a microcontroller to send the program to the robot?
