  • It's funny that Joe Lieberman was the Democrat but a conservative, and Lowell Weicker was the Republican but a liberal. Now they're both independents and Lieberman endorsed McCain while Weicker endorsed Obama.

  • because Keyes was a carpet bagger who moved from Maryland to Illinois just to run against Obama.

  • " Leach is a tireless campaigner who boasts he'll go more places and work harder than everyone"

There aren't that many places to go to in Rhode Island so it shouldn't be that difficult.

  • @dgendvil The Republican Party of Illinois asked him to move there and run after Jack Ryan dropped out and Mike Ditka declined to enter the race. He is a political gadfly so it really doesn't matter where he runs because he always loses.

  • I think swami1, it depends upon the state. NY is generally more open to carpetbaggers than NJ is. Of course, it didn't hurt Hillary Clinton that she was a Democrat.

  • Funny how the "carpetbagger" slur stuck back then, but wasn't an issue at all in New York State 12 years later.

  • I wonder why Alan Keyes ran for senate again in Illinois instead of Maryland? I know that was 16 years after his first senatorial race, & he still lost to future Presidential candidate & the President-elect Barack Obama.

  • wher's all the fancy touchscreens at??
