In this video, we explain how to determine if a relation is a function. Remember for each x, there can be one and only one y.

Your welcome, thank you for watching.

  • What happens if the y is repeated such as 3,4. 6,7 9,4. Here the 4 is repeated twice what do I do now plz answer quicklyy

So your relation {(3,4), (6,7), (9,4)} is a function. There are no duplicate x values. When you plug in a 3 you get a 4. When you plug in a 6 you get a 7. When you plug in a 9 you get a 4. It does not matter that there is a duplicate y value. The only thing that matters here is that you don't have a duplicate x. Remember, for each x you can have one and only one y value.

  • Thanks man u helped me and specifically on the question i needed thank you.
