Members of European Parliament corrupted by some journalists in disguise: the recent case has broken the belief according to which European institutions are clean and rigorous. Only 75 MEPs have signed the declaration n. 59, promoted by MEPs Sonia Alfano, Rosario Crocetta, Rita Borsellino and Eva Joly, that prevents corrupted politicians to be elected at the EP. The amendement wasgiven a halt last April by the Commission for Constitutional Affairs. The struggle goes on in prevision of the 2014 elections, in the meantime member states are left without guidance in the fight against corruption. Meanwhile, the 1999 convention against corruption still awaits Italy's signature. Romania's is there already.
