This dramatic video shows the result of the ignition of the vapor space inside an internal floating roof tank. The tank top is designed with a "weak weld" along one side the the roof to allow just such a "peel back" of the roof under extreme internal pressures - as are created during an explosion of this nature.
Many times, Williams Fire & Hazard Control has seen these roofs lift upward under these explosive forces only to fall back within the tank to become crumpled obstructions to Type III applications.
