  • Hello dubsaloon,

Would like to respond as directly as possible to help answer your questions, but would need a bit more of an idea of what you are talking about.

  • Finally, the design of this stove took into account 5 years of testing with local communities. So, ultimately, the issue of adoption and affordability outweigh slight potential increases in efficiency in our experience...

  • Thanks folks for the input. With regard to the Rocket stove, what is ultimately most important is adapting to local cooking habits and distribution. There are hundreds of stove designs around the world and all have different qualities and levels of efficiency. This stove costs about 15 USD to make... it much less expensive than a rocket stove. In terms of cooking efficiency - these stoves are rated at 30-50% efficiency which may not be the best but is pretty high.

  • Very cool stove. :-)

  • @rawebb1 I would beg to differ about the cost, as you can use the same materials to make a rocket stove for exactly the same cost, while *drastically* increasing the safety and efficiency.

  • You got to be kidding, these people have lived thousands of years and just now heard of a chimney?

Maybe not a good idea too many of these dimwits may be bad for Peru.

Let them evolve on their own pace.

  • I just can't believe that a civilization has not been able to develop a solution to it's own problem, as simple as this one is... The stove is made with mud from their own back yards and a simple wooden form. You say these things cost $15.00 each?? initially that sounds inexpensive, but the only investment is the wooden form, which is re-usable... one form could build every stove in the village. Teach a man to build his own stove and keep our money here!!!

  • I bet they are healthier than you since they live far from civilization.

  • I like the stove but the lie at the end is not acceptable. Taking my money to give to third work countries with no accountability and not control at all over who is enriched is pure lard.

  • silly nonsense. like all enviro-nonsense, you start with unsubstantiated claims, then jump to an over complicated solution. In the first 10 sec. one could simply say "build a chimney"....end of video. I am not saying rocket stoves aren't cool and efficient, but why all the hyperbole? You harm your own cause.

  • excelente.

En africa estan usando una cocina mas rudimentaria pero muy economica.

Usan la tecnica de TAPIAL (tierra comprimida) y da muy buenos resultados.

  • very worthwhile , i see so many undeveloped nations cooking using coal.. this will help reduce global emissionms greatly using this rocket stove /( similar design ). you need to add a brick over the one cooker if not in use to get the better draw
