@RogerKev i know this was like a year ago but i believe the 403s were the automatics and the 400s were the 4speeds, unless its a California version

Mhm, on grass and dirt, I sure hope you were kdding cuz thats a no brainer lol. Its like me saying my Fifth Avenue gets better gas mileage than my Mx6, when the Fifth Ave isnt running XD

i have a 79 also,
and i didnt know this, but someone told , me that if they have t/a 6.6 on the shaker, it means it has the 400
but the guy i bought it from said it had the 403,
is there anyway to tell?
and sorry if i sound like a dumbass

look under the hood and check the factory plate if it has it, otherwise there will be some way of telling from the specs of the engine.
