  • TanTui is a SYSTEM in of it self, and was taught as such until recently when it was used as a "basic" form in Long Fist. Because of that people brush it off as basic or low level, it was only taught first kuz it was easy to learn and had strong foundations, leading many to forget that its an actual STYLE n SYSTEM which is not basic at all lol Lien Bu,Gung Lic,Xing Yi were all taught to the military at one time kuz it was easy, and like taiji its a ONE FORM system that was added to other styles

  • Lien Bu Quan was brought in to the Central Nanjing Martial Arts Institute In the 1920s and was adopted into northern long fist and the KMT Army as a basic training form. But before it was re-worked by the institute it was known as Long Quan or Dragon Boxing which was what was left of the original SongShan five animals style of northern shaolin. You can read about its history if you due a little search, Its not really "Basic"..just taught first due to its EASE in learning.

  • me 2

  • i am currently on this form

  • It IS lien P'u. There is a version in Robert Smith's old books. It was called Yunnan lien pu. There are good versions by Wing Lam and by Yang Jwing-ming for sale. It IS a very basic form and was taught at the Nanjing institute along with the form kung lek.

  • I loovvee this form- I compete with it every year at the USKSF tournament in Hunt Valley

If only I was this good at it....

  • i want 2 learn da dragon fist

  • Cool! I have seen LianBu quan. It is the same as this. But also at the Northern Shaolin temple the schools in dengfeng still practice lianbu quan but it is called 'dragon fist'. Its great to see antother school call it dragon fist. They told me the name refers to the twisting footwork of the foreward steps. At shaolin temple it is not considered a basic form.
