@Spefellfunk maybe it's just me, but did they not play any music after a goal was scored at the Gardens? Maybe I'm old school this way, but I felt it was epic just listening to the fans cheer rather than have it amplified by club music. Congrats to Dougie for his HOF induction.

@Spefellfunk yeah agreed 100%. My dad took me there once in 1997 when I was like 12 and I have and will never forget anything about that experience.
Leafs played the Kings then and won 7-2.

I always thought that gilmour was a better player gretzky

Gawd I miss the Gardens. The colours, the noise, the crazy configuration, the bricks everything. It's too bad it's changed forever.

alas someone who knows hockey...The habs even when they were at their peak in the 70's with a fast fluid game and scorers like Lafleur and shutt...always had an army of solid two way forwards and played a very disciplined defensive game under Bowman...they often won games by 1 goal.

Wrong. The Habs were playing the trap years before the Devils and in fact won the cup in this playoff because of the trap! When their Ast. Coach Jacques Lemaire went to coach the Devils the following year he brought the trap with him and after the Devils succeeded with that strategy, all the other teams without high scoring talent followed.

Yeah, outplayed Gretzky in game one. Come clutch time, in game six and seven, he crapped the bed.
I've never gotten why Leaf fans adore him so - Clark was around longer, Andreychuk was arguably better and Potvin carried the team deep in the playoffs twice.

True 1994 was great also. Well I think Gary Bettman f--ked it up big time. The 1994 STANLEY CUP FINALS had better ratings than the NBA FINALS and it was about to become a huge sport and the players had to had the lockout at the worst possible time. Hockey in the 1980's and early to mid 1990's was the best. Boring defensive hockey you can blame the NEW JERSEY DEVILS for all that nonsense.

1993 and 1994 were 2 great playoffs. Then they had the lockout. Then came boring defensive hockey. Whatever happened to my hockey?
one of the best don cherry's was #6, cuz it spent most of the vid replaying EVERY single series from 1994
