I have a female Californian rabbit and I was looking to get a female Dutch rabbit as a friend, is this a good or bad idea?

I advise against getting a second female rabbit, two adult rabbits of the same sex are very territoral and will often fight to the death. If you want to get a second rabbit you should get a male and have both of them desexed.

ah i love dutch rabbits, i used to breed them but my female just died along with all but one of her babies, which is strange because she had good liters before

@GreenPatchRabbits Doen't that only apply to males? I've had 5 female rabbits in an outside enclosure, but they only fight occasionally when they meet a new rabbit of when they are reunited with rabbits who where seperated from them. Placing a castrated male amoung them has made them even more calm.

I've seen 2 males fighting like devils, but this problem doesn't seem to occur with 2 females.....

My rabbit was a Dutch she died 2 days ago, she was going to be 5 on the 6th June. My other netherland dwarf died 2 days ago too, she was 5! I miss them so much they were my best friends xx RIP Bunty and Patch.

I plan on getting a few more bunnies, i want a few dutch rabbits x

if you plan on getting more than one female to be friends do you get them in the same litter so that they know each other or what? ( like they grew up together) cause i plan on getting a rabbit, but i don't want to get only one and have it be a loner.
