Some footage of a 1918 Lee Enfield rifle. This is the first time I have seen one of these that was not hanging in a glass frame in our Royal Legion. I look it over a bit, we zero it in, and then I shoot a soup can from 50 yards.

Let me know exactly what this gun is. My brother says its a Number 1 Mark 3. I have some closeups of all the various markings if any of you military surplus experts care to weigh in with some input ;).

I must say that this firearm in and of itself defeats any anti-gun argument that simply because a firearm is or was used by the military that it should not be used by civilians. These rifles have been used in wars all over the globe but have also been used to hunt deer all over the globe as well.

I will put up a more detailed description later....its midnight and I still have a bunch of guns to clean including a SKS that had surplus ammo fired in it today... need to break out the hot water etc.

Thanks Gungeek: "British made with Canadian markings (C and arrow) the arrows pointing at each other mean it was sold out of military service. No. I Mk. III * :)"

This footage was taken at the local rifle range in Lawrencetown / Inglisville. Phone these guys 902-584-2229 to get some private range time. Its always quite here. I signed in and no one came the rest of the day so we had the place to ourselves, just how I like it.

  • Sorry for my original message an hour ago, but have developed an allergy to seeing some of the mistakes students make in my hunter safety program. On review, it was definitly the first shooter that had his finger on the trigger as he was lifting the rifle to shoot. I agree that the Enfield .303 is an awsome firearm that works under all conditions. Got my first one in 1957 and started both my sons with one many years ago. It's a "gitt'er done" rifle for sure.

  • @fredinprinceton tossed up a vid of me shooting (breathing and indexing practice). Feel free to tear into that one, you can see me shooting instead of the other guy :b

  • @EpicGibson Its unlikely any shooter watching a youtube video of any type will pick up any bad habits. Youtube has an infinite number of people who know how to do something correctly and they always make their opinions known. Youtubes will naturally see these commentaries and note how not to do something ;)

    Its all good.

  • @EpicGibson Inexperienced, but he isn't fighting a war and were in the middle of the woods. Had he required an immediate follow up shot I'm sure he would have left the gun on the wood and did as you suggest. Don't be too hard on him or ill never get any more footage for my vids lol....I hardly get to shoot anymore unless hes around.

  • @EpicGibson It isn't mine. If I owned it I'd leave it as it but have a full cap mag for it for sure. IMO all the dings scratches and imperfections any military surplus firearm has endured give it character and should not be changed. imo

  • 5:02 too

  • Tell those turkeys to keep their fingers off the trigger until they're just ready to pull it. If they were on my course I'd fail them for that.

  • @ScopedPewPew yeah a shotgun has no tube limit. The AR15 is using a handgun mag not a rifle mag (LAR15) but it fits the rifle so its okay. Yup, the rules are messed up. No point in complaining theyll just say "single shot rifles for all".

  • @CanadianReich My SKS holds 5 but a shotgun can hold 7 and my dad's friend's AR15 can hold 10. makes no sense.

  • @ScopedPewPew haha.....yup. All in the name of public safety, law abiding mentally screened and fully trained citizens must use pinned mags. Criminals can do whatever they want.
