This is a tutorial for setting up MAMP 1.7.2 and Wordpress 2.71 in Mac OSX. This allows you to do Wordpress development on your mac, instead of developing on a live web site.

  • Excuse me Francis! I´ve just followed all your instructions but when I log in as an admin user (after unpacking wordpress), at precisely 5:14, I just get a blank page, not the dashboard... what is the problem?

  • that's pretty baffling isn't it, especially because there's a log in! my only guess is that something is somehow corrupted with wordpress install. i would try to re-download WP and unpack again. sorry i don't have anything more definitive for you.

  • That was helpful, appreciate the effort you took to make this!

    Cheers!

  • I LOVE YOU FRANCIS!!!!!

This is the tutorial I have been missing for weeks. Thank you so much for your guidance!

  • Thanks! I followed these instructions for MAMP 1.9.6 and WP 3.2.1 install, and had no problems.

  • @mavericktheace Sounds like you missed a step. You have to physically make the db folders with the wordpress contents in your root directory first then go to MAMP and create the dbs.

  • Great vid. Thanks!!

  • Can someone help me? When I create DBs and then go to localhost:8888 there is not a menu of the DBs as is shown here. Any ideas?

  • Thanks a lot! very clear! =D
