Dude great idea!... I'll do the same fore sure. Thanx!

That's a great idea. The rudder on mine let go at the bottom while installing the rudder servo and I put tape on both sides. The tape worked, but I like the zip tie idea better.

@CarverMacleod HI - I am glad I could help. Yea this trick works well. I hit some guy-wires and tore the tail completely apart, glued back together with zip tie mod and still flies great!

Snuck in two flights on the Spit before the worst weather hit, have a couple days off to mod now, but the hinges aren't in... then I remembered there's a video... had to look you up again 'cause I couldn't remember what you used lol.
Thanks a bunch... can't wait to try her out.

Hey there, the ailerons of my P-51 is new but I kinda damaged it while installing the control horns... The hinges are cracked within 1/3 the entire aileron. can I know what will happen if I go fly it like that? should I repair it? pls reply, thanks :D

@youronlycow Sounds like you should reinforce that crack just to be safe. Hinge tape from the hobby store is best, but if you are cheap or impatient - like me :) ...tape it up! LOL. Don't use to much, it adds weight. Just enough to fix the problem.

Hi there! Both the ailerons of my Hawk Sky are almost torn out! Can I like use 3 ziptie on each ailerons as hinges? And how much zip tie should I cut out? I know it won't hurt the servo but will it stress the servo a little bit? I'm using half metal gear servo 2.0kg/cm. Plz reply and thanks for sharing!!

@youronlycow Hello! I am not as familiar with your particular plane, so take this with a grain of salt. It is always best if you visit the hobby store and get real plastic hinges, but yes, I think you could use 3 small zip ties and it should work fine. Be sure to use zip ties that will flex easy so you don't overstress the servos as you already know. Test everything thoroughly on your workbench before you fly. Let me know how it goes!

why dont you just get a control surface hinge and slide in there???

@racerkid76 You are correct, that would be the cleaner, more professional looking fix. But if you want to do it for free and like to tinker, then this is just another way. Thanks for watching :)
