Unbelievable, this is the last 41 seconds Loyola-Rider at Reitz Arena on Feb. 26. It's a 75-75 tie and Loyola basketball with 41 seconds left when the possession starts with Brian Rudolph at the top.
The ending, which this video depicts, would prove to be a controversial one. It all came down to whether or not Rider's last second layup should've counted or whether or not the tie game should have stayed that way and gone to overtime.
The only people in the gym whose opinion mattered was the refs and you can see them huddle, tell Coach Jimmy Patsos to 'go away' when he approaches, and then see the lead official signal for a 2-point basket, all before leaving the court.
I personally believe the shot was late.
Buuuut, I'm the most horrible camera man in the history of sports coverage. Not only did I miss whether or not Ryan Thompson's shot was off in time by missing the red light in the backboard... but I also missed a scuffle that breaks out in the last 2 seconds of the video. I suck, I already know.
Here's what I wrote directly afterward...
LET'S GO RIDER!
