Ya I had the same problem but i got it fixed by changing one of the settings in the tv and this caused the flickering to stop i have no idea which setting but it was one of them .
You probably changed the power saving, switching it off, or/and increased brightness enough so that the flickering became unnoticed. It's a solution, but I would not call it a fix, for if it may reduce the flickering effect, the problem is still there.
2-I reported this to Sony, and they took 2 weeks to pick it up, and that was after I made a lot of phonecalls and a huge email.
3-The repair exceeded the time allowed by law, and it came back with the same flickering, plus a new panel and a firmware update that increased input lag.
4-I asked for my money back, and Sony didn't gave me an answer until I decided to send a registered letter to it's CEO.

5-After waiting another month for the answer, they refused responsability for refund, and told me to call the store/retailer.
6-Had to send the TV to the store, payed the aditional taxes for transport and Sony then kept the retailer wating for an answer for over two months.
7-The whole process took SIX MONTHS, and in the end the store allowed me to exchange the TV for a Phillips, because Sony just didn't answered.
WORST COSTUMER SERVICE EVER
It's your decision.
Good luck with your purchase
