Making 50/50's to show before and after with polishing is risky

In the world of car detailing, making 50/50 comparison by using masking tape is very popular. But it is also very risky.

We taped a test bonnet with 3M 3434 masking tape and polished one side. After that we polished the complete bonnet.

Take a close look at the reflections of the TL lightning. The line of the tape is still clearly visible.
