Well, this is what can happen if you let an inexperience driver get a hold of your manual car. Feather the clutch or it could roll back down into things. Tailpipe ended up jammed in a planter strip, clogging with grass, roots, dirt, and rocks with the end partly crimped. My poor car. :(

Would struggle to start, then choke and stall after just a few seconds. Luckily, no other damage and car's fine now.

  • Rusty, I had a similar problem albeit in a manual vehicle. I backed into a snow bank, tried to put the car in drive and go, but it would not budge. Upon inspection the next morning, I found snow jammed about six inches into the exhaust pipe. I cleared and the car started fine, and ran fine, even spit out some left over snow. Now there is a rattling noise underneath the car. Any ideas?

  • @phishhead11 Since your exhaust hit the snow pretty hard, I'd start with checking to see if it's possible the exhaust might of gotten bent or misaligned. Also could have broken or bent a support bracket. Any of these might allow the piping or heat shielding to come in contact causing a rattling sound. Can you tell exactly were it's coming from? If it sounds like it's actually in the exhaust itself, it's possible your catalytic converter broke up and chunks are lodged in the piping or muffler.

  • Had the car lifted and it turns out a section of pipe had gotten bent and the muffler pushed in. had the bent pipe replaced and the car seems fine. That should take care of the poor engine performance and low fuel econ.? Thanks for the help.

  • Glad to have helped. Sorry for having not replied sooner. Was on holiday with gf. :)

Yup, it's performance should be back to normal. That happened to your and my car happen more often then people know. Easy to accidentally back into things.

Other ways, Friend's jeep's pipe got crush when off roading. Couple other people have had theirs clogged from failed cats. One happened suddenly, the other was slow with weeks of performance loss before total blockage.

  • now i know how to get my neigbours bak hehehehehe!

  • My car is doing the same thing, but i think it is clogged cats. It smokes really bad when cold, and misfires alot. Great reduction in power. Its also embarrassing, plus the smoke stinks really bad. 5X worse than oil burning. I think i'm just gonna have them cut off, and not even bother replacing them. My state doesnt have emissions testing, so it would be a waste of money to buy new ones, but now my Thunderbird is gonna be as loud as loud of a btich.

  • We thought so too, but unfortunately it wouldn't . We'd floor it and all that would happen is it's stall the engine. It was so clogged, couldn't even get it to rev up. It's start, rev to 850-900 RPMs and stall. Had to pry a couple rocks and bunch of dirt and roots out.

  • It would have came out if u would have floored the gas and kept ur foot down

  • That acct has been deleted and all it's videos, "This video has been removed due to terms of use violation."

But as I said before, his videos were gross and disturbing. Why would anyone do that? Maybe he's got a girl friend to do it with now instead of his tailpipe.

  • if you watch "smokebuspoof"'s videos, you know what I mean!!
