Dubai is part of the UAE, United Arab Emirates, a country in the Gulf region of the Middle East. The capital of the UAE is Abu Dhabi.

In a matter of months, new buildings appear in the perpetually changing Dubai City skyline. Various news articles state that tens of thousands of construction cranes are currently in Dubai, reportedly up to a third of all of the cranes in the world. It is quite amazing to see the speed at which they are working.

Dubai is an emirate of the United Arab Emirates. Wealth, education levels and growth equal or surpass the US. Economic progress in this city of the future is unprecedented. It is the Middle East that is not familiar to most Americans. The real change in the Middle East is not from the Iraq invasion, it is from construction and business and entertainment.

The speed of development in the region is mind boggling to most people.

FYI..only 6-7% of Dubai's economy is from the oil..most come from Tourism..because Dubai doenst have much oil..Abu Dhabi is the one having alot of the oil..

its kinda funny to see that back in 2003 when i first came to dubai... it was really a lot different then now... i remember dubai marina back then... lol it was like 3 towers... now dubai marina has probably more than 50 towers... lol i used to live in the springs... horrible horrible place.... there were so many malls that were popular for a while and then a new mall came... anyways, i left dubai in 2007 and even since then so much changed... get a GPS and its useless after 1 month...

FYI, Dubai has NO oil!!

Oil is in Abu Dhabi.

Dubai's economy is based on different incomes, tourism, industry, ports, aluminum smelter, financial services, etc.

@DubaiLegend true. and trade worldwide too. i know dubai loves gold thats for sure. ive seen teh mall there. dear GOD so much gold in one place. i know saudi arabias income is mainly based upon oil. what would happen if the oil just stopped? would their entire economy just tank, and take others down with it? this thought has always been on my mind

not that i would wish harm upon innocent people, but if you are willing to ignore all the ethical issues i mentioned and support such a corrupt economy, you get what you pay for...

@wookieinheat i don't doubt what you say, but i hope for everyones sakes that's wrong......would be horrible to see innocents killed in a building crashing down because of cheap construction, or workers who don't know what they're doing =(
