  • so mps do see alot of war then??

  • We just got 8 new ones. Guess why... I'll drive this sweet fuckin' piece of iron any day before another hummer. Kick ass a/c, armor that can survive a hit or two, a 50 AND a 40mm. Yeah, I'll take my chances in this thing.....Keep yer heads down and barrels up, my brothers.

  • I hated the ASV.... it's not very comfortable to ride in a two day convoy

  • 860th hooah

  • I dont know about what kind of Mp's your talking about. I was one in Iraq for a year and I was all over Iraq escorting convoys and then later doing a PSD mission in Baghdad. Going in and out of the what you call front lines, which there is no such in Iraq. It's armor beats a humvee anyday. Next time you open your mouth think about what you say before you make a fool of yourself talking about something you read in a book.

  • M1117 is only issued to MP units, whose job is to patrol where they might run into bad guys behind the front lines. Army cancelled project in 2002 when they felt Humvee offered virtually same protection for much less money as "budget" consideration. Sub $1m M1117 is also much cheaper and better armed than $3M stryker.

  • Humvee was never designed to be an armoured car, Army philosiphy was to buy very heavy M-1 and M-2 tanks to fight it out with soviet armor on the front lines and no armour on anything else, which doesn't work in insurgency when you can get shot at anytime anywhere. We knew this in Vietnam but went into Iraq with no armor protection for lighter vehicles. Most other nations use armored cars.

  • These should be used instead of Humvees anyplace they expect to get shot at. Proof against light arms, has deflected many RPG hits with angled armor and survived IED blasts.

  • Best when used WITH HMMWVs if you're doing convoy security in Iraq.

  • better than hummve?
