IMO the film was a study of Ennis, Heath's character. As in, he was unable to commit. He couldn't open up to his wife or his lover. At the end he is alone. Very sad, and beautifully portrayed by Heath Ledger.

he's so fidgety because he was very nervous doing interviews. he's also so caring. listen to how he says "oh my God you poor thing" at the beginning. angel.

I never liked movies about love before because i always knew it wasn't true. love wasn't true. but in this movie i felt with them because of the amazing acting and the good chemistry between the guys.the sentence that completely overwhelmed me: "Jack... I swear..." that incredible acting made me cry so much. by then, heath ledger made me go to the deepest point inside of me. and now i can say that i've never been more touched than by Ennis Del Mar. and i so fucking believe in real love now.

Thank you Heath for bringing us Ennis Del Mar. What a character. What a gut punch. I still watch this movie and with Heath's performance I still see new glimspes of Ennis. This character will always be top of my list of characters. Thank you Heath. May your young soul rest in peace. :_(
