http://www.fixpcfreeze.com Video on How to reduce memory usage and Speedup Your Computer Performance on a Windows PC. In this video learn how to remove unwanted styles and memory using functions of Windows XP that can slow down your computer performance if your computer has RAM less than 256 mb. If the memory available is 512 or above these functions may not cause serious performance problems.
First method is to press the "Windows Logo" Key and "Pause Break" keys together. The other method is press "Start" Button in the left bottom of your computer screen bottom left on the task bar, then click "Control Panel" in that and then select "System" to open the "System Properties" dialog.
The System Properties dialog is an eye opener into your computer technical specifications. In the System Properties the default tab is "General" where you can see the amount of memory or RAM installed in your computer, the speed of your CPU, the type of your processor and Windows Version.
Now click on the "Advanced" Tab on the right top of the System Properties dialog box. Now in here click on the "Settings" button for Visual effects, memory usage and virtual memory settings. Watch this Video on how to reduce the memory usage by removing Visual Effects if you don't understand.
Now in the "Visual Effects" tab you see four options. Let Windows Choose what is best is the default setting. You need to click on the third option, "Adjust for best performance" or remove all the tick marks from the boxes of all the Visual Effects. Now click "Apply" button and windows will remove all the visual effects and your Windows XP will now look like classic Windows 98. This will speedup your PC Performance tremendously. You can feel a surge of power in your computer.
But this removes all that beauty of Windows XP. So now click only the last three or four Visual Effects options and put the tick marks back in the boxes of "Use Visual Styles, "Use Drop Shadows for icons" "Use Common Tasks in Folders" and lastly "Smooth Edges of Screen Fonts" Visual Styles to retain the beautiful look of Windows XP, but get all the power back to Speedup Your PC Performance.
Microsoft Windows XP Visual Styles uses over 220 mb of RAM. So people with less than 256 mb RAM either may switch back to Windows XP Home or increase RAM. Today most PC & Laptops come with more than 1 GB or 1024 mb of RAM. So if you have a new PC with lots of RAM do not bother, just enjoy your Windows Visual Effects. But remember the larger the screen resolution the more RAM you need for Visual Effects. So if you do experience some PC Performance loss do remove some Visual Effects to Speedup Your PC.

what do you mean by reboot
JavieT45 1 year ago
@JavieT45 Reboot means Restart your Computer. Unfortunately Windows needs to load with the new optimizations and changes in the setting you made. Although Microsoft claims that with Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 you do not have to restart, no change is visible unless you reboot or restart your computer.
