Constitution ('Old Ironsides'), an early American warship that gracefully outsailed the enemy while cannonballs bounced off her sturdy oak planking. For years, the virtues of Astilbes (and the long process of commercial production) have made them scarce and expensive. By luck and application, we've solved that problem, contracting with a top grower to create a collection of 12 plants -- 3 each of a white, two different pinks, and a red -- at a bargain price.
