Hampshire College on Fox News

As far as I've been able to dig up about this video:

Shortly after the beginning of the War in Afghanistan after Sept. 11th, a student group called "Students for a Peaceful Response" (which disbanded at some point before 2004) passed out some sort of petition condemning the war, which passed 623-121 (Numbers alone make this questionable; since when do that many students at Hampshire vote on anything?)

Anyway, brave, stupid, or evidence of what to expect at least once a year if you go to Hampshire College? You be the judge :D

Sorry for the crappy quality. It was a poor quality WMV when I found it on the network in '05 and I don't know if better quality copies even exist.

Hampshire was absolutely right. This is manufactured dissent, no one was upset about the vote. There was no "sharp divide in the community."

Because two alums threw a fit, Fox News designed some organization of Hampshire alums that didn't really exist.

Fox News isn't journalism. By the very definition of the word: it's propaganda.

"They've learned their lesson?" This is a Hampshire trend: we do something daring and "crazy." A few years later, it becomes popular. XD.

so because theyve voted and spoke out thier mind in a very democratc way, they are scolded and called unpatriotic basically because they didnt agree with a war that the majority of the industrial nations also apose? FOX is rediculous. I somtiems wonder how on earth people could in thier right mind think about voting someone like Bachman as a pres but then I realize, its hard to be in a sane state of mind if you only watch FOX news. Its this kind of propoganda that makes me sick to my stomach.

@chimmie1 I go to Hampshire, and yes they do teach computer science here. It has nothing to do with the video quality of this. This is just someone taking a shitty fox video, no relation to the quality of the academics at my school, which are outstanding by the way. So do some research before you make assumptions you pretentious fuck!

I'm a 1998 alum of Hampshire -- all I have to say is: YEAH, right on! It's about time Hampshire gets recognized nationally as being a college who won't back down, no matter how unpopular it may make itself. I'm glad to see Hampshire keep doing what it was founded to do: give students a voice. HAMSTERS 4EVER!!!!!
